Sorcerer Part 4

(Continued from Sorcerer Part 3)

For a few moments she just stood there, frozen. The figure didn’t move. She was beginning to wonder if they were even alive. If there was a dead body near her home she knew that would spell bigger trouble for her, though. She needed to know what was going on – so she very cautiously convinced herself to get closer.

Once she was only a few feet away she began to see that it was a man – a man dressed in all black with an impressive-looking cloak covering his face and some of his body. But he was just laying there, unmoving. What caught her eye next was the small trail of red coming off his side and making it’s way into the ground under him. It was very obvious he was wounded.

And, she thought, it was very obvious she was not very qualified to help him. Should she even help him?

She continued her tentative steps toward him, giving little thought to who he was and focusing more on if she were possibly hallucinating and should just turn around and march to bed. But as she got closer she started to hear labored breathing and knew this had to be real.

She certainly didn’t have an explanation as to how it could be happening, but it was real. She slowly walked to the other side of the figure and squatted down to look closer. She wished she hadn’t. Her vision immediately went to his side and from this distance she could see there was a lot more blood than she had thought – the dark red had blended in with the black clothing rather well.

She knew this would be the moment that she had to decide. And do it quickly. For if she were to attempt to help him, she needed to do it now – or if she was to look the other way, she did not want to see him die.

“Ugh. Fine!” She exclaimed, rising to her feet. She grabbed her skirts, hiked them up, jumped over the man’s body and raced back to her house as fast as she was able.
