Space Station Part 9

(Continued from Space Station Part 8)

It took her a second to readjust to reality. His face looked much closer than it had been a moment ago and it was clear he had jerked himself out of her reach. Her hand was still raised up to where it had been touching his cheek, but she now noticed that she had climbed up much closer to him on the bed while she had been absorbed in his thoughts.

Her eyes went to his face and another blush grew on her cheeks. He was looking at her with confusion, but not fear, she was thankful to discover. Though he had definitely made a move to lean away from her, as far as he could while they were both on the bed anyway.

“I’m so sorry…” she said quietly as she lowered her hand, but made no attempt to move away.

He seemed to understand her apology was deeper than just about reading his thoughts and he seemed to relax. “It’s alright, just, uh, startled me was all.”

When she saw him relax she seemed to do the same, as she did her position of being so close to him became a little more apparent. She couldn’t help but look him over at this distance. His chin had a bit of stubble that she hadn’t noticed before. She couldn’t help but notice the tight-fitting shirt he wore, or the loose gym shorts that accompanied it. She could tell that he had been working hard during his recovery. He looked no less fit than he did months before. She suddenly was filled with the thought of wanting to touch him… wanting him to touch her.

But the realization of those thoughts also made her eyes snap back up to meet his. He was looking at her with an amused confusion that made her very self-conscious.

The silent tension was broken between them when the ship made a very uncharacteristic lurch that sent her off balance. She found herself pressed fully against his chest and in the tight embrace of one of his arms.

“What was that?” he asked, looking toward the door, as if anticipating an attack.

Her mind, however, was far from thinking about the ship. Her mind was trying to comprehend the physical closeness that she was now experiencing. The feeling of it was even more tantalizingly sweet than she had ever imagined in her head. The images of her imagined dealings with him suddenly flashed into the forefront of her thoughts, she couldn’t help it. She knew this was dangerous territory, so she made a move try and get up, but ended up touching his leg with her hand.

Suddenly she knew she had made a mistake. She could feel her thoughts pouring into him. The very thoughts she was overwhelmed with and the very thoughts she really didn’t want him to know about.

She quickly jerked her hand back, but she could tell the damage had been done. She tried again to push off of him, to get away, but this time his arm around her trapped her there.

“Mathius, I’m so sorry… uh..” her voice was small, but she didn’t know what else to do but apologize. She slowly brought her face up to meet his, unsure of what she would find. She feared that disgust would be the only thing she saw, but she was very wrong.

He looked surprised, that was sure, but she couldn’t help but notice the flush in his cheeks and his slightly parted lips.

She didn’t know what to do so she tried again. “Mathius, I -”

But she was quickly cut off by his lips pressing firmly against hers.

That was the last thing she had expected to happen. After the shock, the feeling of his lips and his embrace simply melted her. She relaxed into his embrace and closed her eyes. Bliss was all she could feel.
